Here at Review Cards we find customer reviews exciting. We know just how much of a difference they can make to your reputation, your sales and your business.
In this article about how to get more 5 star reviews on Google My Business we are going to presume you’ve already sorted the basics, such as setting up a Google My Business page for your business. If you haven’t already done that, you might want to check out our article 5 simple steps to getting reviews on Google My Business.
In a lot of ways, getting reviews is the first step. Making sure that more of your customers leave 5* reviews is what we all want to achieve of course. So here is our advice.
Treat all your customers like they’re your next reviewer…
Firstly, and we’ve mentioned it in our other articles, you need to provide 5* service and provide it consistently. Constantly make sure you are communicating with your customers, finding out what they want, and delivering that impeccably. What they want is going to change over time too, no matter what business you’re in, so it is vitally important to keep listening and keep making those tiny changes which your competitors won’t bother to make.
Don’t do things half measure…
Maintain a presence across social media and interact with your customers. Simply be more human. Your customers and clients are much more likely to want to leave a positive review if they feel like they know you as a person. More to the point, if you are there and interact you give them the opportunity to communicate with you privately if there are ever any problems. Which leads us onto our next tip.
Turn negative into positive…
If there is ever a problem, make yourself available to deal with it privately and do so as quickly as possible. Most customers actually prefer to deal with any problems or complaints privately. Negative reviews happen when people feel frustrated that their issue wasn’t dealt with at the time. So always handle any queries, concerns or complaints in just as friendly and helpful a manner as you possibly can, and get it dealt with quickly. If you deal with a customer’s concerns, to their satisfaction, you are very likely to find that those customers become advocates and leave you a 5* review too.
Don’t be embarrassed to ask for a review…after all you’ve earned it!
Make sure you always ask for the review. Always. We make it easy for you and your team to ask by providing bespoke Google My Business Review Cards which remind you to ask AND remind your customer to leave a review as soon as they can. Don’t judge who might and who might not, ask everyone.
Go the extra step and explain to your customers why reviews are so important to your business. People do like to support each other and, if you’ve followed our advice above, and kept in contact with your customers, this should be a really easy conversation to have.
Share the love…
Share every positive review you receive across your social media channels. This reinforces the positive messages about your business and shows you off in a good light, plus it subtly encourages other customers to leave a review too.
